Compliance to Commands| Joshua 1:16-18
Fearlessly Living
Daily reading:
So they answered Joshua, saying, “All that you command us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go.
17 Just as we heeded Moses in all things, so we will heed you. Only the Lord your God be with you, as He was with Moses.
18 Whoever rebels against your command and does not heed your words, in all that you command him, shall be put to death. Only be strong and of good courage.”
With Joshua taking Moses's place in command and as the grace for the people of Israel, they decided their submission to Joshua as the leader. But they added conditions, they needed him to follow God's commands and to be strong and of good courage as God directed.
They didn't just want to follow him blindly but they wanted to follow God blindly. If he failed to do as God commanded, they would surely fall if they followed him only putting their trust in him instead of God. They recommitted to God in this set of scripture, accepting whatever may come- good or bad- and they decided to follow Him only. (Exodus 19:8)
They only got this far because they were trusting God; careful not to walk in the footsteps of their parent's past mistakes.
This had to put some form of pressure on Joshua to continue to only connect with God and not fall to his own understanding because people were depending on him; his family was depending on him. Trusting God in the bad seasons is so much harder when everything is going well, which is why they couldn't afford to misstep - it caused their family to not be able to enter the promised land previously.
"And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness."
They had already been through slavery, the journey out into the wilderness, disobedience, and defiance, and now hopeful, repenting, and recommitting to trusting the Lord...
This is a call to reconnect and recommit your plans, visions, and goals back to God. No matter what hopelessness has happened, all is forgiven.
You have beaten yourself up for long enough. return to hope, to faith until the vision is reality. He can't do it for you, He's right where you left Him with arms + hearts wide open.
Your path is still here waiting for you because it's yours and no one else's. It was created specifically for you. It's okay that you took a break. God does not take away the gifts, vision, or love you are given.
