House of Secrets | Joshua 2:1-3
Matthew 20:16 So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen.”
Daily reading:
Now Joshua the son of Nun sent out two men from Acacia Grove to spy secretly, saying, “Go, view the land, especially Jericho.” So they went, and came to the house of a harlot named Rahab, and lodged there. 2 And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, “Behold, men have come here tonight from the children of Israel to search out the country.”
3 So the king of Jericho sent to Rahab, saying, “Bring out the men who have come to you, who have entered your house, for they have come to search out all the country.”
For this to be the second time (Numbers 13) that they went to the land promised to them for report, not to see if they could take it but how they would.
Joshua was a part of the first group of spies that brought back the report that it was a beautiful land so beautiful that they didn't think it was worth fighting for because it fed the people who inhabited it so well they couldn't overtake it.
They were stronger than they could ever get and they had giants!
How could they ever win?!
Fast forward to now after resubmitting to God, Joshua is the leader, not the spy. He and his people believed through faith that no matter what was on the other side of the walls they would receive the land that the Lord promised to their parents and them.
I'm sure they didn't forget about the first report when they crossed into Jericho, but this time in its divine time there was an ally prepared to help them.
God was already doing the work behind the scenes to facilitate the takeover of the land. A place was provided to them by someone overlooked. They were hidden in a place that was unlikely a "Godly place" but they walked into the walls with a protected place already created for them.
They were hidden even when the king watched them and knew where they entered and where they ended up. This is confirmation that even when the enemy knows where you came from, where you entered, where you currently reside if you stay with God He will keep you hidden in a known place.
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
Will remain secure and rest in the shadow of the Almighty [whose power no enemy can withstand].
2I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
My God, in whom I trust [with great confidence, and on whom I rely]!”
Even in the unlikely or dangerous place, He is there with you with a plan for extraction and protection.
